Task 1: Weebly
Weebly is my first personal website to create. I learned how to do this through a technology class that I am taking for my graduate degree. Making a website has been so much fun! I have used this site to display tasks that I have accomplished in EDU602. It has been like an online portfolio where I have put everything together.
Task 2: Journal Article
Researching journal articles in the past was rarely a fun experience. It always seemed to be a boring task that I did just to get done. The work that I am doing now in the graduate program is for ME. I wanted to find an article that I would enjoy and actually use. That is why I chose the article, "Assistive Technology for Every Child." This is an article that I could apply to what I am doing in the classroom.
Task 3: Experiencing a Learning Web
This task was a true learning experience for me. I learned about copyright information that I had never before considered. I now understand the importance of respecting copyright and software laws. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to respect the laws and the works of others.
Task 4: STAR Center
As one of my projects, I went through a Trailfire of the STAR Center. (Read below more about Trailfire.) The STAR Center is a unique learning center in Jackson, TN, dedicated to helping people of all ages with disabilities or other special needs. The Trailfire approach was a very creative way to guide me through the website to learn about the STAR Center. I was able to make a connection with the STAR Center because they provide assistive technology, and that is what I had just researched through the journal article.
Task 5: Trailfire, Interactive PowerPoint, VoiceThread, Games/Puzzles
Trailfire was a very unique experience. Who knew that you could put a virtual stickie note on a webpage? Now I know that! I also know how!! YEAH me! This is an awesome way to guide students through specific sites and informaion on the Web. You can place the sticky notes with questions or comments on each page to tell the student what to do and where to go. This is also a neat activity that students can do at home with their parents.
VoiceThread is my favorite new tool that I have learned to use. It is awesome. I can put together a lesson with pictures and my voice. VoiceThread can be used at school or by a student at home. I really like the possibilites with this tool. It is GREAT!
Interactive PowerPoint is a fun way to help students learn and review. Using PowerPoint, I was able to create a game for my students to play in the classroom. The possibilities for the games are endless. I can use any subject area. Any number of children can play. I can split the class up in teams. I can also be as creative as I wish in making the game. I cannot wait to do this in the class! Unlike some of the other tasks I have created, this one will not be blocked at school.
Dr. Grant came to visit our technology class and teach us about Google Docs. There are so many useful tools in Google Docs. I especially would like to use the form application. This is a super neat way to give a quiz or a review, and all the answers come back to me in a spreadsheet. I also enjoyed learning how to set up RSS Feeds to come to me. This was all REALLY COOL STUFF!
